November 2024
On November 3, 2024, JETRO and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), located in Beppu city, Oita prefecture, jointly held an event allowing high school students to gain first-hand experience doing business, under the slogan “Paint the world in Oita colors!”
The event was held in Beppu alongside APU’s Open Campus. About 20 people took part, including high school students. Lectures, discussions, and presentations were held on the subject of Usukiyaki porcelain that is a specialty of Oita prefecture.
In the lectures, Usami Hiroyuki, the head of Usukiyaki Lab, talked about expectations for and issues concerning international business. From JETRO Miyazaki, staff member Masaki Kohei elaborated on points to remember when exporting products.
For the discussions, the participants split up into several groups to devise plans for export destinations and marketing strategies. Each group then made presentations that were evaluated competitively.
Five people from Usukiyaki Lab, APU’s School of Management, NHK’s Oita bureau, Oita Made (a trading company dealing in prefectural specialties), and JETRO Oita served as judges who conducted rigorous evaluations of the presentations. Two teams were awarded grand prizes.
Comments from the participants included, “I got nervous because this was my first competition.” “I was glad to get professional reviews from businesspeople.” The judges praised them, saying, "I was impressed beyond my imagination with their proposals.” “I would like to make use of their ideas.”
Aiming to increase the number of young people who will be involved in international business, ギャンブル ゲーム 無料ill continue its efforts to provide opportunities for students to acquire global perspectives and learn about doing international business.
Grand prize winners were presented with certificates of commendation and Usukiyaki chopstick rest sets.
