October 2024
From October 14-18, Kataoka Susumu, President of JETRO, led the “Bulgaria-Serbia Business Mission”, a delegation of 92 participants from 70 Japanese companies to Bulgaria and Serbia, two countries with promising start-up and IT sectors. The mission was provided by the Government of the Republic of Serbia with a special charter aircraft for a direct flight between Belgrade and Narita.
The mission members met with heads of state, ministers and officials of relevant organizations in both countries, and attended business forums organized by JETRO. They also had business meetings with leading local start-ups and toured industrial parks. The leaders and ministers of both countries confirmed their expectations for investment and business expansion by Japanese companies, while the delegation had the opportunity to see the excellent business environments in both countries and to increase momentum for investment in the Central and Eastern European region.
There were more than 80 media reports about the mission, including by local national broadcasters. The mission contributed to increasing the presence of Japan and JETRO in the region.
