Whether engaged ブラック ジャック ディーラーrade or investment, businesses need to understand and monitor politics at the domestic and international levels. This refers to both political systems and political trends at the local, national and international levels. For example, in Australia it is critical to understand how politics works at the Federal level and also in each of the States. We have seen in recent years changes in laws and regulations that have a direct impact on current business outcomes and on future decisions.

At the international level, it is also important to keep up with developments in our major economic partners and beyond. In 2024 and 2025 there will be some very important elections. Currently in Japan there have been elections ブラック ジャック ディーラーhe LDP for the post of Prime Minister following the resignation of Fumio Kishida. It was an interesting field of candidates, including Shigeru Ishiba, Sanae Takaichi and Shinjiro Koizumi. ブラック ジャック ディーラーhe end Ishiba won and will be the new Prime Minister.

In the US there are only two candidates but still difficult to predict with assurance whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris will become President. Opiniブラック ジャック ディーラーls are notoriously unreliable in the US and the media are partisan.

Also hard to predict will be the Australian Federal election in 2025. The current Government may be struggling but the Opposition has a large hurdle to overcome and there are numerous independents in Parliament. There will also be elections in QLD next month and in WA in March 2025.

Elections matter and each political victor will have new priorities, sometimes markedly different from their predecessor. Mostly this will be ブラック ジャック ディーラーhe domestic context and will affect local business and foreign subsidiaries.

Will these election outcomes affect international relations, especially blocs in which Australia and Japan are members? My view is that the forces that support the structure of these institutions are greater than the current or future administrations. At the bilateral level of Australia and Japan this is repeatedly shown, that regardless of the political party in power, the relationship has flourished at all levels.

This holds true in Australia and Japan and also ブラック ジャック ディーラーhe US. To support the free and open Indo-Pacific, as formulated by then Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the QUAD was rejuvenated under Trump’s first term and enhanced by Biden. Similarly, AUKUS was initiated under Trump and ratified by Biden. Bipartisan support for these crucial institutions remains solid.

Recently there was a leaders’ meeting of the QUAD. Some commentators have expressed doubts about the value of a meeting when two of the leaders will depart soon and the political future of a third is unclear. Sometimes it is also implied that therefore the QUAD cannot achieve much beyond declarations and photo opportunities.I disagree with these assessments. The meeting of leaders is not just about the individuals, but about the numerous relationships between those below the leaders: Ministers, senior bureaucrats and military officers and business leaders, all of whom are the representatives of the myriad commercial and people to people relationships that bind our countries. It is important to keep the vicissitudes of politics front and centre but evaluated ブラック ジャック ディーラーhe context of enduring mutual benefit.
