Getting Ready for Take-Off
Dec 28, 2023
I have been attending the AJBCC-JABCC joint conferences for over 30 years. As a reflection of the development and diversification of the Australia-Japan relationship, ブラック ジャック 遊び方onferences have changed their focus over the years, from iron ore, coal, non-ferrous metals and gas to the Economic Partnership Agreement, infrastructure, agribusiness, financial services, ammonia and hydrogen.
This year in October we held the 60th annual conference, a remarkable achievement that also set a new milestone with over 600 delegates, well above any previous attendance numbers. This makes very optimistic for the next 60 years and is proof of the ever growing enthusiasm of both sides to work together.
In addition, the other exciting aspect was the number of new fields of focus that provide solid launching pads for effective partnerships in leading edge sectors. Australia’ブラック ジャック 遊び方hief Scientist, Dr Kathy Foley, reminded us of the long established collaboration in science by citing the example of Questacon (the National Science and Technology Centre) which opened in Canberra in 1988 with significant Japanese funding.
Australian and Japanese scientists regularly co-author research papers on physics, astronomy, clinical medicine and biology. As Dr Foley stated “Japan is a natural partner for Australia”. Two leading edge technology solutions were discussed: 1) working together to realise ブラック ジャック 遊び方ircular economy (carbon reduction, storage and recycling plus hydrogen and critical minerals development) with energy security; and 2) quantum communications and computing (also related to the development of AI). Quantum computing expert Dr Michelle Simmons outlined huge opportunities in weather forecasting, design of pharmaceuticals, risk modelling in banks, driverless cars and mega databases, etc.
Presenting these opportunities to an audience of 600 ブラック ジャック 遊び方ese delegates is a great catalyst to enable research collaboration to turn into real world commercial applications that will benefit both sides and the global community.
Finally, but not least, ブラック ジャック 遊び方onference explored ブラック ジャック 遊び方ritical issue developing the human capital and future leaders on whom the solutions and the applications will depend. For example, the development of internship programs through which Australian and Japanese companies and research institutions can exchange personnel in well-designed and mentored programs. These would be valuable contributors towards effective partnerships through cross-cultural experience, personal relationships and specific skills development.
The trade relationship between Australia and Japan continues to grow and investment from Japan also continues to reach new heights. Japanese companies are making investments in a wide range of sectors, including recent new ventures in commercial and residential real estate. It may have seemed that a plateau phase could be expected. And yet this year’ブラック ジャック 遊び方onference shows that there is unprecedented enthusiasm for exploring partnerships in new technologies and innovation, real frontier exploration with game changing potential. I can’t wait to see what will be realised.
