The Japan-Australia Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) Industrial Utilisation Workshop

on Tuesday 6 Februaryin Sydney


In recognition of the importance of the use of satellite technology under the Memorandum of Co-operation between the Ministry of the Economy Trade and Industry (METI Japan) and the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS), METI and Geoscience Australia in conjunction with JETRO and Austradeheld the QZSS Workshop on 6th February, 2018.


The purpose of this workshop, which featured business applications by using Japanese GPS, the Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) from both Japan and Australia was:

  1. To share technical information about QZSS technology and its applications.
  2. To identify the potential applications in a variety of industrial areas between Japan and Australia relating to QZSS such as autonomous driving, maritime utilisation and autonomous agriculture, etc.
  3. To discuss a formal framework for ongoing cooperative partnerships on QZSS and associated technologiesand applications between Japan and Australia in both the public and private sectors.
